It began as a promise. It did not stay one person's to keep.

Every decision at East Wind starts with one child. A child in Manipur whose future is on hold because of conflict. We take responsibility for keeping that future from being lost, so that every child can become whoever they want, speak in their own voice, learn science and reason, and grow up to build peace and progress for everyone.

It began with months on the ground in Manipur, working on primary education. And then, on the 3rd of May, 2023, witnessing the dreaded night as violence broke out, stifling reason.

What came next was not a plan. It was a promise to educators still trying to hold a classroom together, three years on.

What follows belongs to no one in particular. Every decision is argued for, not assigned. Carried forward together, in the open.
